Why donate to Aalto University?
What if collaboration between different areas of science and art was a given? What if it only took a little bit of creativity and entrepreneurship to make radical, world-changing future innovations? All this is both an objective and a reality here at Aalto, and donations of all sizes play a central role in making our work possible.
Less than 60% of Aalto University’s costs are covered by the budget of Finland’s Ministry of Education and Culture. The remaining 40% has to be obtained from other sources, which is why all donations are valuable.

How does Aalto University use donated funds?
The students of today are the experts of tomorrow. Now is the time to prepare for the imminent skills shortage and make sure that our education gives our young people the tools they need to succeed in the world of work as well as in other areas of life.
Your donation to Aalto will promote the students’ well-being and career development. At Aalto, we prioritise the mental well-being of our students and strive to provide them with state-of-the-art study spaces that are conducive to learning. We also support our students’ career design abilities from the very beginning. Donated funds are also used to enhance students’ entrepreneurship skills and help the university to establish partnership networks.
We support the internationalisation of both students and researchers. We invest in maintaining world-wide networks of experts and offering opportunities for exchange programmes, giving our students the chance to learn from the best in their field, whether in Finland or elsewhere in the world. We encourage our researchers to take active roles in international projects.
We are constantly developing our campuses to improve their functionality. Whether constructing or planning something new, we prioritise versatility and develop our spaces constantly to facilitate seamless collaboration between different fields, experts and ideas.
Donations also help to smooth out possible, and even surprising, fluctuations in public funding; they safeguard the long-term development of the university as well as the continuity of science and research.
